The start to it all. My very first drop so I had to make it special. One thing that I hope you guys realize on this journey, is that quality is of the most importance to me. I don't feel that I've done a good job if the quality is not up to standard. I want people to receive this shirt and the first thing they say is "Wow, this is some nice quality!" I think I did that with the "Friends and Family" tees.
the Product
In this collection, there are two different colored tees that will be dropping. A simple black colorway and a washed grey colorway that almost looks like stone. The tees are 6 oz and made out of 100% ring spun cotton, so you will get a nice weighted shirt that feels super soft. The type of print that was used on the tees is what you would call "puff print."
Puff print is not really an ink. It's an additive that's stirred into the plastisol ink before it's printed. It's printed as normal but then has to go through a heating process that gets up to 320 degrees, that then raises the print to give that 3D look. You will see these prints all over the tee: front, back, and the sleeve.
the Idea
With this collection, I knew that I would have to start out small. It was the start to my clothing line, so I knew that there was much to be learned. I didn't want to start out big and run into a ton of issues that could come with a bigger drop.
I always said that I wanted my brand to be built on exclusivity. There weren't going to be many of these shirts made. This drop was originally planned to be sent as a gift to those closest to me to build up the hype for the brand.
After some thought, I was eager to get started and decided to release it to the public instead. As a small brand, I figured that the majority of the people that would be buying would be my friends or family anyway.
Because, really it's a fact. Friend or Family, either way I still love you.
