Drop '03 - "Pre-game Starter Pack"

Ok ya'll, let me just start with this. This drop is SUPER late. Like DUMB late. It was supposed to drop at the beginning of summer, I'm talking like the very last weekend in May. Clearly that didn't happen.

Remember, this is only my third drop. I'm still learning and with this one I wanted to take it up a notch! This collection was made entirely from scratch. In the clothing community, it's called cut and sew.

This means my collection started off as pieces of square garments and fabrics, was cut by hand and sewn based on my design. Pretty neat, right?

This takes time! And time that I didn't know I needed. The pieces of the "Pre-game Starter Pack" were made overseas and took about two months to complete, from sample to finished good.

So I'm sorry, but that's just the way the cookie crumbled. Oh yeah, the next collection probably going to be mad late too, but I'm aiming for before Christmas :)

the Product

In this collection, there are two different pieces: a snapback & mesh jersey shorts.

Snapback

Made in China, these hats are 100% polyester. It has graphics on the front, side, and back of the hat. The graphic on the front uses what is called 3D embroidery, which gives it a raised look and feel. The graphics on the back and side, uses 2D embroidery which is essentially just flat.

There are two separate colorways that follow the theme of two NBA teams: the Dallas Mavericks & the Minnesota Timberwolves. You will also see the graphics pay homage to those cities, and popular NBA stars from each city.

Shorts

Made in India, the shorts are made of 100% polyester mesh. It's dri-fit, very breathable and the shorts are meant to fit right above the knees. The drawstrings help to keep the shorts fitting nicely around the waist. With the addition of metal tips, you can be sure that the drawstrings never get lost within the waistband.

With two separate colorways, they both offer something unique.

The green colorway uses the font that is associated with the Dallas Mavericks. The waistband and trim of the shorts, features a stripe that runs all the way around.

The blue colorway uses the font that is associated with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The trim of the shorts features pine trees which is a staple of Minnesota.

the Idea

With summer in mind and thinking of my main audience, I thought of things I like seeing my boyfriend wear. If we are being honest LOL.

I absolutely LOVE when he wears shorts above the knees! He knows that. And fellas, let me tell you, the ladies love it. So, I don't want to see ya'll with shorts past your knees ever again!

Coming off my last drop, I wanted to further bring home the sports theme. I used two teams that I have the closest ties to: the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I've been a Mavericks fan pretty much my entire life. I know it doesn't make sense, but Dirk Nowitzki was my favorite player in the NBA so it just happened that way. I chose the Minnesota Timberwolves because Minnesota is where I grew up and I will always think of it as a place that I called home.

From there, it was pretty easy to flesh out the rest of my idea. I used the jersey numbers of the some of the most famous players from each respective team to pay homage to and help to create the patch that falls on the side of the hat. I struggled between Luka Doncic and Dirk, but went with Luka as he is the present star. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves didn't have a present star that deserved recognition at this time, IMO. So, Kevin Garnett it was.

And then lastly, put the cities on the back of the hat for an added aesthetic.

Overall, I think you guys will really love and appreciate this drop. You may have seen some of the images posted to our social medias, but they really don't do enough justice to show how quality these pieces are.

I can't wait until you guys get them in hand. Let's go!
